“City of Heroes” is the first superhero-themed MMO. Developed originally by Cryptic and now managed by Paragon, the MMO allows players to create a hero, and battle evil. You're able to pick from several types of heroes, who fulfill many traditional MMO roles, such as tank, support, and DPS.
Unlike regular MMOs, though, “CoH” gives you superpowers to play with, and the detailed character creation allows you to fully realize your ideal hero the minute you login. The game is based primarily on instanced missions, where you'll battle henchmen and ultimately an evil leader.
The release of “City of Villains” has introduced new elements to the game, such as PVP and lairs. Recently, the game also added a mission design tool, allowing user-created missions and maps. The game now comes sold in a bundle with “City of Villains,” and is known as “CoX” by its players.
