Evony is a free-to-play browser MMO based on tactical simulation games like Civilization. Launched in 2009, it has grown to become one of the most popular browser games in the world, largely due to its controversial ad campaign featuring women in skimpy clothes enticing people to click, without really promoting the game itself.

Like other similar games, players must build an empire from the ground up, and can later on attack other nations. Graphically, the game has also faced controversy from allegedly taking models and art from retail PC games.
