“League of Legends” is a free-to-play MOBA game (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), created by some of the people behind the popular “Warcraft 3” mod “Defense of the Ancients,” aka “DotA.”
Gameplay is very similar to “DotA,” with two teams of players competing against one another in order to destroy the opponent's base. Like “DotA,” to do so you will have to defeat enemy minions, turrets, and opposing players' heroes in order to clear the way. There are dozens of characters (heroes) to pick from, and the free characters are rotated each week.
What makes “League of Legends” stand out is its accessibility, and art style. The game has a more distinct art style than “DotA,” and higher quality models. In addition, the game is easier to get into, and its HUD and menus are much simpler to understand. Don't let this fool you, though, because strategy is just as important to win as it is in any of the MOBA games.
