“Travian” is one of the oldest browser based strategy games still available. It takes place during the time of the Roman empire, and is based slightly on the board game Settlers of Catan.
The browser strategy game features three tribes, each with unique specialties and 10 unique units: the Romans, who are the easiest tribe and recommended for beginners; the Gauls, who are the most defense oriented tribe; and the Teutons, an offensive tribe best used by experienced players.
While many elements of “Travian” are used in modern browser strategy games (such as building, gathering resources, premium items that make gameplay quicker, etc.), unlike most it has an actual end event. After a cycle between 100 and 300 days, the game stops, and an NPC army invades and attacks all players, and the first player to build a Wonder wins.
